U12 Evaluation Process

GRA is Excited to Announce U12 Evaluations for the 2024-25 Season

 Who Should Attend Evaluations?

  • Any player interested in playing U12 and born 2012 or later should participate in U12 evaluations.

How Will Players Be Assigned to U12A, U12B/C?

The teams will be formed based on the experience and skill of the player groups, as follows:

  • 12A Team: The 12A team will be comprised of the highest evaluated players based on ringette experience and skill demonstrated at evaluations. Any players born 2015 or later will need to demonstrate skill in the top 1/3 of all players being evaluated to be considered for a position on the 12A Team.
  • 12B/C Team: All players not evaluated as being the highest skill level or who choose not to attend U12 evaluations will be placed onto a B/C team*. Once teams are formed, GRA will determine the ranking of B or C based on experience and skill of players.

*Based on evaluations, GRA reserves the right to change the composition of U12 teams hosted in 2024-25 (e.g., 2 x 12B teams vs 12B and 12C or 2x 12C teams).

Who will the teams play?

  • All 12C, 12B and 12A teams will play Lower Ontario Ringette League (LORL) teams.
  • All teams will participate in tournaments throughout the season.
  • All teams will participate in the U12 Championships hosted by Ringette Ontario at the end of the season.

What if a player can’t make evaluations?

  • To be considered for the 12A team, a U12 player must attend U12 evaluations. Exceptions may be considered by GRA’s Coach & Player Development Committee (CPDC) on a case-by-case basis.
  • If a player can’t make Evaluations, player seeding will rely on past playing experience and/or new to sport best practices.

Registration Process

  • Each player must be fully registered with GRA to be evaluated at any level of U12 play for the 2024-25 ringette season.

U12: To register for U12 evaluations, complete the U12 Evaluation Registration Form.

12B & C: U12 Players who do not wish to be evaluated will play at the B or C level of play.

What is the Cost for U12 Evaluations?

There will be no additional costs for players to participate in the U12 evaluation process.

Evaluation Process

  • Players will be evaluated based on the GRA Player Assessment Guidelines.
  • GRA evaluators will be comprised of the 12A Head Coach and a group of non-conflict evaluators and as approved by GRA’s CPDC.
  • Evaluation dates, times and locations will be posted on GRA’s website under the 2024-25 Evaluations tab.

*Based on evaluations, GRA reserves the right to change the composition of U12 teams hosted in 2024-25 (e.g., 2 x 12B teams vs 12B and 12C or 2x 12C teams).
